| Shane and Sia, the Barbi Twins, have always been involved with animals but as they became more aware of the cruelties that
were happening to animals they determined to dedicate their lives to the safety of all animals. They became very active in local spay and neuter and Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) programs, in protests against animal cruelty, vivisection, zoos, puppy mills, circuses and eventually made hands on efforts to rescue animals left behind during natural disasters. They were involved with helping lobby for animal bills, such as the horse slaughter bill, the pet food safety bill and the cat declaw ban. They are involved with volunteering at shelters and help with adoptions

Shane and
Sia Barbi grew up separately, but both aspired to be veterinarians.
Initially they studied
Veterinarian technology and also became active in sports (leading
them into health and fitness). The twins were experienced horse riders
and trainers for the US Equestrian Drill Team. They grew up on ranches
in separate states and both became involved with showing and breeding of
all animals when they were young, which they are presently against.
The twins no longer believe in any type of breeding, showing or any type
of exploitation because it promotes animals as property (specifically
property which must be perfect) instead of live precious creatures with
individual personalities. They state that "responsible breeding is an
oxymoron. Until we have adopted every animal from every shelter, we
do not believe in any type of breeding or shows that promote pure breeds,
it's 'pet-racism'." The twins believe that we all should embrace
"imperfect" and older pets as family members. The twins adore the type
of dog shows such as Nuts for Mutts that celebrates
mixtures and the character of each dog.
The Barbi Twins are active
in every aspect of animal causes such as assisting animal bills to pass,
participating in protests against
animal experimentation,
circuses and zoos. They also help promote the closures of
puppy mills and breeders and educate rescues about the dangers of
hoarding, and they are also working with group that help with
endangered species.
Most of all Shane and Sia are hands-on with the
spay and neuter programs
to help prevent "pet over population". They promote hands on
volunteering, as they have at your local shelters.
The Barbi Twins have numerous Hollywood projects and media events that
all focus on helping the animals, which include two
Animal Rights
movies, a wild horse documentary.
Shane and Sia totally
dedicate themselves to rescue and fighting for animal rights. They
continuously turn down work that does not focus solely on helping with
the welfare of animals.

"We want to dedicate our
lives to animals. We want to make sure they are free of cruelty,
abuse, neglect, and death and not be used for our entertainment
or gluttony. Animals should be left in their own natural
environment, the way nature intended. We are guardians for the
companion animals, we do not own them like a piece of furniture.
The pet population should be humanly dealt with spay and neuter
or TNR (trap, neuter and return), never management by death,
which is a human convenience. Al of us have the responsibility
to protect and care for animals, be their voices and fight for
their rights. They are the only true innocent victims. People
have choices, animals don't.
Bottom line, we as humans have the choice
to protect or destroy. And as evolved beings we should choose to
protect instead of destroying.
It is your business to wear, eat, use or
abuse what you want. But if what you wear, eat, use or abuse
feels pain, then it's no longer your right, it's their right!"
